We are all familiar with standard lightweight wheelchairs from our everyday lives. This type of wheelchair is available for use in hospitals, airports, retirement homes and zoos, for example. They are comparatively inexpensive and are therefore primarily intended for temporary use by a number of different users. In cases of limited mobility, they can help users to regain a certain degree of independence. This type of wheelchair is less suitable for long-term use or for self-propulsion. The Ottobock Start models fit precisely into this category and support users worldwide.

Adjustable back support - having the right back support is essential for every wheelchair user. With this in mind, flexible back support upholstery has been fitted to all start models and can be easily adapted to the individual user to ensure maximum sitting comfort.

Put your feet up - The foot supports on all start wheelchairs can be removed, swing away and are height-adjustable. This allows you to put your legs up for a while or to start foot propulsion without any hindrance.

Side panel; height can be adjusted - the side panel with forearms support can be adjusted to three different heights. It is also depth-adjustable and elevating. This makes it easier to approach table edges, for example, or to get in and out of the wheelchair.

Headrest - If additional support is required for the head, a head support can be easily attached to provide the necessary stability.

Assurance for the attendant - A wheelchair with a drum brake is primarily intended to give the attendant more control. Extra drum brakes provide additional safety, especially when travelling downhill.
